Guest Cart, Checkout, and Payment

Before You Start

  • Confirm the catalogue is active.
  • Confirm guest form fields match the property workflow.
  • Confirm selection and radio guest form fields use valid option values. Checkout rejects values that do not match the configured options.
  • Confirm the property knows whether payment is required or disabled for this catalogue.
  • Confirm staff know how to handle failed payment or failed order states.

Place an Order

  • Add items to the cart and review the cart summary.
  • Check quantities, variants, options, add-ons, components, item notes, surcharges, discounts, and any additional fields before continuing.
  • Fill in the required guest form fields.
  • For selection and radio fields, choose one of the configured options. Checkout does not accept values that are not in the list.
  • Apply a promo code if the catalogue offers one.
  • Choose a scheduled date or time if scheduled ordering is enabled.
  • Select a payment method if the catalogue requires payment.
  • Submit the order and wait for the confirmation or success page.

Payment Behavior

When payment is enabled, guests choose one of the enabled payment options for the catalogue. If only one payment option is enabled, checkout can use that option automatically. Offline methods such as charge to room, pay at counter, pay upon delivery, or custom offline payment finish checkout according to the property's process. Online methods send the guest through the configured gateway and then back to a success or failure state.

When payment is disabled, guests do not choose a payment method and the order is completed without payment.

Scheduled Orders

If scheduled ordering is enabled:

  1. Guest opens the schedule selector during checkout.
  2. Guest chooses an allowed date and time.
  3. Checkout blocks invalid times, closed periods, or times outside preorder rules.
  4. Staff review the selected fulfillment time on the order detail.

Promo Codes

If promo codes are enabled:

  1. Guest enters the code during checkout.
  2. Catalogue V3 validates the code, eligible items, and promotion rules.
  3. Guest sees the applied discount or an invalid-code message.
  4. Staff can review promo and total details on the order.

Troubleshooting

Payment option does not appear

What you see: The guest reaches checkout but cannot see the expected payment option.

Do this:

  1. Confirm the catalogue has the payment option enabled.
  2. Confirm the catalogue still has payment enabled if the guest should pay during checkout.
  3. Check whether the property intended to use a no-payment checkout flow.
  4. Check whether only one payment option is enabled, because checkout can apply it automatically.
  5. Contact support if the option should exist but does not appear.

Promo code does not apply

What you see: Guest enters a promo code, but the cart total does not change.

Do this:

  1. Confirm the promotion is active.
  2. Confirm the cart contains eligible items.
  3. Confirm the code text, validity period, and discount setup.
  4. Test again with a clean cart.

Scheduled time cannot be selected

What you see: Guest cannot choose the expected date or time.

Do this:

  1. Confirm scheduled ordering is enabled.
  2. Check schedule date and time rules.
  3. Check catalogue and item operating hours.
  4. Review warning text shown to the guest.

Order does not complete

What you see: The guest cannot finish checkout or sees a failure page.

Do this:

  1. Recheck the guest form fields and required inputs, including selection and radio answers.
  2. Confirm the selected payment method is still available.
  3. Retry from the cart if the guest has not been charged.
  4. Contact support if the same checkout failure repeats or if a submitted option is not in the configured list.

Online payment does not return clearly

What you see: Guest completes or exits online payment but is unsure whether the order succeeded.

Do this:

  1. Search the order list by guest, room, time, or order reference.
  2. Check payment status and gateway details.
  3. Do not ask the guest to pay again until the existing payment state is reviewed.
  4. Use the payment failed page context when escalating.
