Return, Dispose, or Cancel a Lost & Found Report

Lost & Found status actions record the final operational result for an item.

Quick Reference

Before You Start

  • Confirm property policy for return and disposal.
  • Confirm the report details match the item.
  • Confirm the staff member has permission to change final statuses.

Return an Item

  1. Open the Lost & Found report.
  2. Confirm item description, guest, and ownership details.
  3. Select the return action.
  4. Add return notes and receiver details.
  5. Save the status update.

Dispose or Cancel a Report

  1. Open the report.
  2. Review item details and history.
  3. Select Dispose or Cancel only when policy allows it.
  4. Add the reason and required notes.
  5. Save the status update.

Troubleshooting

Final action is not available

What you see: Staff cannot return, dispose, or cancel the report.

Do this:

  1. Confirm the report is not already closed.
  2. Confirm the staff member has permission.
  3. Confirm required fields are completed.
  4. Ask a manager to review the report.
